Welcombe Beach Clean - 10am Saturday 31st January. Organised by the AONB Clean Marine Project.
Natalie Gibb from the Clean Marine Project is organising this beach clean. As part of the project she has carried out a number of beach cleans across the North Devon coastline and is really looking forward to coming over to Welcombe - “such a beautiful part of the AONB.”
Natalie says: “I have been recruiting beach cleaning volunteers over the past few months and so hopefully, along with members of the Welcombe community we will have a good turn out. I have been made aware from the National Trust that several locals are already very active in cleaning their beach.
“As part of my beach cleans I am also collecting data with the Marine Conservation Society on the variety of rubbish that ends up on our beaches. This information can help us to combat the problem at source. I hope to carry out a survey at Welcombe next Saturday and will hopefully have some helpers on the day that would like to get involved.”
Torridge District Council have agreed to collect the rubbish on either the Saturday or the Monday following the beach clean.
