Many thanks to Stu Knowler for making us aware of an old hand drawn map of Welcombe and the surrounding area dating back to 1765.

Interesting to note Welcomb has no ‘E’ and the only route in to the Village is the track out to Golden Park. Also Welcombe Cross appears to have been called ‘Bones Shop’. The whole map can be downloaded via this Wikipedia link.

As Stu says: “Tiz a thing of beauty my dears. Proper Viddy!”
